Take up a sport is another way of be healthy. I would still recommend going to gym but you change workout around if you need to.
Take up a sport like tennis, football, basketball, surfing, archery or climbing or martial art like Bjj, boxing, kickboxing or Judo. First off learning sport or something new is good for the soul and mind. Even if you not any sports take up any skill like art, doing course on, local history, learning how to give massage, learning DIY skills or learning hypnosis. Is good for you there the social aspect but learning new skill is also good because of the benefits of the new skill, it’s fun to do, it makes better learner which carries on to other things you are learning I could on. But there also the benefit being therapeutic. For some unknown reason are brain like variety. So, it you have one goal and two smaller goals. For some reason It much easier than having one goal I think the reason is because as brain gets to relax jump to something else e.g. another goal. Like with are body are brain t grows when it recovering e.g. from sleep and relaxing.
Now one of dangers of new hobbies or learning new skill is brain crack see that section for more information. For learning new hobby once per week or twice week or three-time weeks is good any more is probably bit too much as rule of thumb. Doing or playing sport can be long or short term it depends on what you want.
All though sometimes learning skills for short period of time for accelerated learning such as when I learn to meditate learning for 30 days in row was good because it nearly the equivalent of learning a new skill once a week over year. I don’t recommend these periods for long time as you will get burn out or in the case of sport you are more likely to get injured.
Now in the case of learning martial art for 30 days in row it can be done. But you will have to do modifications because of the risk of injured
How to win competitions in sport. As I talk about in most sports you can normally break down moves into 80/20 rule. You learn top 20% moves you need for example in judo there’s over 67 Throws but top judo competitors focus on their top 5 throws. Don’t get me wrong they know other throws they just focus on top 20% that gives them 80% of their results.
Take Ryan Hall for example Ryan Hall got black belt in BJJ in 4 years it normally takes good person over 10 years to earn his black belt. I should point out that black belt without skill is pointless really have to point this out that all some people really care about the prestige of knowing skill rather than knowing the skill which really defeats the purpose of having that goal. He was also a professional mixed martial artist currently competing in the featherweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He is known for a number of competitive achievements, ranging from Mundial and ADCC victories to dozens of Grapplers Quest championships. He is the winner of The Ultimate Fighter Season 22.
As Ryan Hall said “When I was competing as a purple belt against a lot of very good to elite level black belts, realistically there was no way that within 3, 3.5, and 4 years before I got my brown belt I was going to be able to compete in every position against people who have been at it with better training environments, and things like that, than I had, in every position.
So, the idea was: drag them into something that I control better than they do. Something that I understand. Because even though as a whole, for jiu-jitsu, was I better than everyone else that I was competing against?
Absolutely not. But, did I have an area that I had an edge over literally everyone? At the time, yes. That was 50 / 50 guard. There was a couple of different things. The triangle was built like that as well.
I said “All right, you are better than me objectively. I recognize this. I don’t need to fool myself. But, provided that I can drag you into my area of expertise, I can defeat anyone if I can get them in the right spot.” That doesn’t mean that it is over confidence or that like “I’m going to get him for sure!” or something like that. It is just, “Hey, I know that if I do the right thing in my position where I know almost all of the answers, I can win. I can beat anyone.”
In other word he masters small amount of moves 80/20 rule. Even Jeff “The snowman” monsoon mixed martial artist competing in the Heavyweight division of the UFC he was a UFC contender having competing for UFC Heavyweight Championship. He had record of 61 wins 26 losses in MMA By submission 38. Monson is a two-time winner of the ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship (most prestigious grappling events) and a No Gi Brazilian jiu-jitsu World Champion. Monson is considered to be one of the world’s top submission grapplers. When he won the ADCC he said the reason he won was he play his game and force his competitors play his game (eg set of moves he use using the 80/20 rule). He said after the event he roll (spar) with some of the people he competed against he said (I am heavily paraphrasing) he said these people were overall these people were far better than me but when I force to play my game I were I was better.
(By the way look up Image of jeff Monson protest its called “The Snowman Vs. the Cops” there is no real reason I just think he looks terrifying)
The 80/20 rule is every sport Skateboarding, as we know it, was probably born sometime in the late 1940s, or early 1950s.The surfers in California wanted something to do when the waves were flat. No one knows who made the first board it seems that several people came up with similar ideas at around the same time. The first manufactured skateboards were ordered by a Los Angeles, California surf shop, meant to be used by surfers in their downtime. Hence the skateboarding accelerated the learning of surfers because they didn’t have to wait in Waves. It even became it own sport.
To win competition or get good at something quickly have set of moves (use 80/20 rule) do learn broad knowledge of the sport as well and force people play your game. Needs same lessons can be apply to anything in life.
Solo training is one of the number of ways you can get better faster at any sport of skill.
Is always good to have schedule for example twice week for 45 mins or 15 mins I am going to do solo practice. During the quarantine they show people doing different types of solo training tennis players using wall and hitting ball, they show goalkeeper hitting his football against the wall and ball would ricocheted into goal post and then he would save it. Skateboard were first invented by surfers in California who want to practiced skills when surfing season was over because waves were flat.
For example, if looking at working learn dance you can learn five moves and do 3 sets of 10 or set timer and do two sets for one minute each.
For most martial arts or skills or sports you can find a curriculum by simply google in this case wrestling “wrestling curriculum” you have something to follow which give broad knowledge. Sometimes you will even see free video playlist to follow. One thing I should say always learn from a reputable resource you can do this be use google to make sure reputable resource because if don’t you could be waste your time. As you start learning you can than figure the 80/20 the broader your knowledge the easier it is.
Different type of solo training you can visualise, learn moves from books and videos, review from journal your memory or videos you review yourself with n judgement and see where you can improve. You can do practice either with a partner, by yourself like the boxer shadow boxing visualising is important. Sometimes their tools you can use for solo practising e.g. for boxing and kickboxing their punch bag and for grappling there’s grappling dummy.
With moves don’t just learn them one at a time learn to string them together like dance moves this true it nearly anything playing chess, dancing, martial arts, sport etc. therefore learning a sequence of moves for example in BJJ it could be for taking back passing to side mount, taking back from side mount, getting back control, then finishing with choke or armbar. I should point out the better you get something you are able to flow which mean your gut is doing the work and not your brain
Some information about getting better a sport or skill
With sports or slow learning, it’s good to have deload week every 12 weeks or whatever work for you. This can be going to less class, not work as hard in class or just take the week off this is good for the mind and body.
Should you learn on your own after class absolutely. See above section for this.
Now journaling can be good way for improving learning. By having a separate journal for the sport. If you find it a chore you don’t have to do it. To make less of chore you can do once a week or set timer for two minutes and write a much as you can.
With journal for sport simply google the name of sport and journal you should be able to get ready made temple for how to journal here an example for any sport
Date 00/00/00 week 1
Week is good because if you have plan deload week after week 12 you can track when you have deload week.
What did I learn in class today?

Important information I learn today or what went well today?
What can I improve on today?
Any comments
Having a plan and goals it always good to have plan goals like I have talk about earlier. For example, you want win so my completions, you want learn these moves, some people even have goals to compete, breaking bad habit, learning two new sequences of moves, breaking some kind of record.
Having plan going for the juggler. For example, with learning how to give massage you might only want to know the basics, learning to dance to might want to master the Rumba for Judo you might want to be national champion at black belt.
Learning sport or any new skill really depends on want you want. So, for example I would encourage you to write any skills you want to learn and to which level. I should point out that goals can change for example maybe goal is to master playing guitar you learn to play guitar you become proficient. However, you don’t really enjoy it. But take up surfing for six weeks to learn some basics and you fall in love with. That’s ok take up surfing and stop playing guitar if don’t enjoy it. Goals will change depending how much like something and you don’t know how much you like something until you try it.
I believe it good to have hobby we do long term that we try to master. Listen we never really master anything but we can get dam close. Look for most people we ever really only master about 5 different things maybe more it the grand scheme of things you won’t be master of lot of things. it’s good to try a master thing you learn things that you wouldn’t learn anywhere because master something more difficult to learn which bring up it won unique learning lessons
so, it ok just to try out things for short period of time like doing beginners course or having goal of what you want achieve form learning this new skill. Not only will learn new skill all its other benefits you will also increase learning skills to apply to other things. for example, doing BJJ made me a much better teacher as it made me more patient and calmer.
Like I am going to talk about in Hébert method section is going having for example 12-week period were learn music,12 week period learning basic of boxing, 12 week period of learning to draw.
A broad education as broad education widens our horizons increase acquisition of knowledge, and are personal wellbeing.
With careful planning and good practice use 80/20 rule you can go from bad something to be moderate at something. For example, James bond in the books has a lot of skills but is moderate at nearly all the skills. Is only by butting the skills together does he become a secret agent to be reckon with.
Five different type of skills
Stage 0: Is Untrained someone who has really no knowledge of the skill.
Beginner: A novice understanding of the skill. You have exposure to the skill and understand its basic concepts but lack experience.
Novice not very experienced but with some education (training) merit; “beginner” is basically no experience nor training at whatever it is that the individual might be attempting to do.
Intermediate/moderate: Between a beginner and an expert. You have experience with and can carry out the skill but don’t understand its advanced concepts. You can get here relatively quickly plus you really three stages above people with no knowledge to them you look like expert or master.
Expert: A highly developed skill level. You have solid experience and training with the skill and understand advanced concepts. You demonstrate proficiency and superior skill level. But to get here take years.
Master: get here take life time
Worlds class: only small amount of people will get here
